Beijing Municipal Bureau of Water Resources has the following major responsibilities:
1. To draft and execute local laws and regulations on water conservation.
2. To formulate and execute the strategy, long-term and annual plan of the city's water conservancy development.
3. To manage, supervise, examine, investigate and protect the city's water resources.
4. To manage the city's reservoirs, rivers and lakes.
5. To handle the basic water conservancy construction and quality control; to manage the city's flood prevention and drought relief, countryside water conservancy, township water supply, drinking water supply, water power stations, water and soil conservation.
6. To formulate and execute financial policies and other economic coordination policies on water conservancy.
7. To manage the city's water conservancy technology, education, cooperation and exchanges.
8. To undertake other relevant assignments from Beijing Municipal Government.
