Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television has the following main functions:
1. To implement state and Chinese Communist Party's policies, regulations and laws on broadcasting and film business.
2. To formulate and supervise the implementation of strategic objectives plans and policies concerning the development of the city's broadcasting and film business.
3. To approve and manage broadcasting and cable TV producing organizations in Beijing. To manage local video-on-demand business.
4. To grant or revoke movie and television program production rights and permits according to relevant state and local laws and regulations.
5. To manage and supervise Beijing's exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan and foreign countries in term of film and television production.
6. To coordinate, supervise and manage television broadcasting network development and cable and satellite television.
7. To manage radio, film and television production, establishment of cable television stations, satellite receiving facility setup and video-on-demand business. To handle and investigate complaints and law violation accusation reports.
8. To undertake other relevant assignments from Beijing Municipal Government and Chinese Communist Party Beijing Committee.
