Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication has the following responsibilities:
1. To draft and execute local regulations and rules concerning management of the city's news, publication, printing, distribution and copyright.
2. To verify and approve newly established publications (including electronic publications), newly issued newspapers and periodicals.
3. To take charge of the registration works of Beijing's publications, newspapers and periodicals.
4. To inspect and conduct executive management on Beijing's publishing business, press market and investigate and deal with illegal publications and related activities.
5. To deal with cases concerning violation of copyright and arbitrate and mediate in foreign-related copyright disputes.
6. To manage foreign cultural exchange cooperation concerning the publishing business and copyright.
7. To undertake other relevant assignments from Beijing Municipal Government.
