Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism has the following responsibilities:
1. To study and formulate the developing aims, local regulations and rules concerning Beijing's tourism industry.
2. To draft and execute a long-term plan and annual plan for tourism development.
3. To examine and approve tour agencies, designate restaurants, photography studios and medical consultancy and service institutes and star-rated hotels.
4. To organize foreign publicity and develop overseas markets.
5. To organize significant tourism activities and develop tourism items and products.
6. To formulate standards for tourism services.
7. To organize training and inspect tourism service quality and deal with complaints from foreign tourists.
8. To undertake other relevant assignments from Beijing Municipal Government.
