Beijing Network Information Industry Office supervises network information and wireless radio industry of Beijing. It has the following major responsibilities:
1. To implement state policies, regulations and laws on information networks and draft of local policies, regulations and laws together with overall development and annual plans.
2. To approve and supervise the implementation of information network development and implementation plans of individual government organizations at the city and district or county level, various industry sectors and key information network projects.
3. To manage and plan Beijing's public communication networks, television and broadcasting networks and specialized government communication networks. To liaise among state communication trunk networks, military networks and specialized government communication networks.
4. To conduct research on technical specifications for information network construction of Beijing. To handle technical feasibility studies and assessment for key information network projects.
5. To manage promotion and publicity of information network technology and coordinate within Beijing regarding information resources. To manage special fund and loan for promotion of information network technologies.
6. To manage network-based information service industry and work of government information integrators. To supervise approval process of domain name registration for local government organizations. To organize the establishment of security attestation system for information networks in Beijing.
7. To handle the establishment and assessment of research projects. To supervise training of information network staff, information network publicity work and foreign exchanges.
8. To manage wireless radio administration.
9. To undertake other relevant assignments of Beijing Municipal Government and Beijing Network Information Industry Office's Leading Team.
