Tongzhou, Beijing—As a session of Site-research Programs at surrounding districts and counties, Tongzhou Investment Promotion Conference was held on July 26, 2006. It is an investment promotional event organized by Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, and People’s Government of Tongzhou District.

On the purpose of briefing the general information of social and economic situation and investment climate, as well as key economic zones in Tongzhou, some diplomats and senior officials of foreign chambers of Commerce, and over 60 entrepreneur and representatives of foreign companies were invited to attend the conference. Meanwhile, some important media also were invited to make relevant reports about that event.

As one of the organizers, Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform paid much attention on that event. It offered not only support in guidance and instruction, its deputy director general, Mr. Lu Yingchuan, attended the conference and delivered his speech on the opening ceremony. The other organizer, People’s Government of Tongzhou District, offered its great efforts to this promotional event. The deputy Governor of Tongzhou, Mr. Zhang Shusen, on behalf of the local government, expressed their warm welcome and sincere hope to foreign investors, promising effective administration, preferential policies, and outstanding environment of Tongzhou.

Then, visiting guests were shown about three main locations, Tongzhou Economic Development Zones, Tongzhou Opti-Machatronic Industry Park, and the Grand Canal Scenic Zones.

Upon briefing and site-research at Tongzhou, all participants were able to get a comprehensive idea of investment climate of Tongzhou, as well as its bright future attribute to its development target, a new satellite city. Many participants have expressed their strong intentions of further negotiation of investment in Tongzhou, while many others are considering to do so.

Mr. Ilpo Sarikka, Commercial Counselor of Finland Embassy, was over impressed by current situation and bright future of Tongzhou, he said, “You(the Organizer) have chosen the best place!”

Upon great efforts of both organizers and co-organizers, this event has proved to be a great success.
