CEO of Union Invest (Germany) Visited IBI
On the morning of Nov. 2nd, 2006, Dr. Rudiger Ginsberg, CEO of Union Invest, Germany, visited Invest Beijing International. Chairman Tu Xingjian, Director Wu Xiaoli from National Development Bank and the chief accountant of Jingtou Land Development Project Management & Consulting Co., Mrs. Ren Xuehua met with German guests together. Both side introduced their firms to each other, and on Dr. Ginsberg¡¯s request, Mr. Tu gave a brief on how IBI works and how IBI might help Union invest in the future cooperation between the two firms. Mrs. Wu introduced the policy of investment fund business in china to German guests and welcomed further in-depth discussion on such issues with Union Invest in the near future. Dr. Ginsberg expressed his appreciation on Mr. Tu and Mrs Wu¡¯s introduction and expectation on future cooperation with both sides.
Former Malaysia Ambassador Dato¡¯ Abdul Majid Bin Ahmad Khan Visited IBI
As the chairman of IBDC Malaysia, former Malaysia Ambassador Dato¡¯ Abdul Majid Bin Ahmad Khan, and his company visited Invest Beijing International (IBI) on the afternoon of Nov. 6th, 2006. Chairman Tu Xingjian welcomed Dato¡¯s Abdul Majid and his members. Dato¡¯s Abdul Majid is very familiar with China, as he had been serving as Malaysia Ambassador to China for seven years in Beijing. He highly praised the development achievements of China and appreciated Mr. Tu¡¯s hospitality and warm reception. He also expressed his willingness to help establishing collaboration partnership between IBI and other similar organizations in South-east Asia, such as Khazamah in Singapore. Mr. Ler Leong Keh, Managing Director of IBDC, gave a brief introduction on IBDC Malaysia and the regulations and criteria for enterprises to go public in London Stock exchange (AIM) and Malaysia Stock Exchange. At last, both side exchanged views on financing abroad for enterprises in Beijing and possible future collaboration.
President of Koppers Inc. (US) Visited IBI
Vice president of IBI, Mr. Han litao received Mr. Walter W. Turner, president and CEO of Koppers Inc, Pittsburgh, PA, US, and his visiting group on the morning of Dec, 12th, 2006. Both side exchanged introduction of their firm to their counterpart. Mr. Turner expressed his willingness to utilize the platform IBI offered to extend Koppers¡¯s business in china. According to Mr. Turner¡¯s introduction, Koppers is an international company and leading producer of chemical, carbon compunds and treated wood products. Koppers entered China from 1994, and established a joint venture, Koppers China Carbon and Chemical Co. Ltd. with Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Co. Ltd (TISCO) in 1999. Recently, Koppers has set up a representative office in Beijing and about to establish another joint venture together with Anshan Iron and Steel Group. Co. Ltd, and TISCO. Currently, Koppers is mainly focused on carbon chemical business in China and planning to start wood treatment business in the near future. Both sides exchanged views on how Koppers start wood treatment business and how Koppers employ qualified people in china.
Canadian Capital Markets Listing on TSX Nov China Roadshow Kicks off in Beijing
On Nov 7th, 2006, Nov China Roadshow of Canadian Capital Markets Listing on TSX kicked off in Beijing. This roadshow was hosted by Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), co-hosted by Inner-Mongolia Financial Office, Hebei Financial and Stock Leading Office and Shanxi Listed Enterprises Office, and jointly organized by Invest Beijing International (IBI) and Beijing Zhongzi Guoyan Consulting Company. More than 160 delegates from Chinese enterprises and related government departments participated in the event. Besides TSX, RBC Capital Market, Research Capital, Dekiutte, Ernst & Young, PWC, Lang Michener LLP, Blakes. Cassels & Graydon LLP and McCarthy Tetrault LLP from Canada also presented themselves in this roadshow.
Mr. Han Litao, Vice General Manager of Invest Beijing International delivered a welcome speech and Mr. Richard Nadeau, Senior Vice President of TSX. Mr. Nadeau and Mrs. Annie Lin Tao from TSX presented the advantages and criteria to go public on TSX. Canadian lawyers elaborated law issues that Chinese companies may encounter when they are going public on TSX. Experts from investment bank and certificated accountants explained the strategy, method and financial and audit issues for going public on TSX for Chinese companies.
After a short lunch, there was a one-on-one Q&A between delegates from Chinese enterprises and Canadian experts. Both side exchanged their opinions over financing and going public in Canada for Chinese companies.

2007 Invest Beijing New Year Reception
On the night of Dec 8th, 2007 IBI New Year Reception was held at Noble Club, a traditional Chinese club beside the Temple of Earth. Counsellor of Embassy of Switzerland, Mr. Beat Burgi, Counsellor of Embassy of Belgium, Mr. Gerard Seghers, Chief Representative of Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industy, Mr. Vladimir Padalko, Director of the Board of SwissCham, Mr. Denis Shmid and his wife together with other 40 guests from foreign embassies and chambers of commerce of 17 countries or districts, such as Australia, Belgium, EU, Germany, Israel, Russia, Spanish, Switzerland, UK etc., attended the reception. The reception was hosted by Mr. Han Litao, vice president of IBI, and started by a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Tu Xingjian, Chairman of the Board of IBI. Mr. Tu reviewed investment promotion events IBI has successfully conducted over the last year, such as, site-research at counties and districts of Beijing, business networking parties and international forums, etc. Chairman Tu said that the success of all these events is mainly due to the support and assistance from IBI partners all over the world, and he would like to express gratitude on behalf of IBI to all of them. IBI will carry on providing useful information and assistance to all foreign embassies and chambers of commerce, in order to enhance trade and economic cooperation, and to share with foreign enterprises the opportunities attribute to market prosperity and the Olympic economy.
Mr. Denis Schmid, director of the board and secretary general of Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Gerard Seghers, Economic & Commercial Counsellor of Embassy of Belgium Trade Commission also gave a speech for the reception. Hong Kong SBT Group, as an emerging enterprise that has developed successfully in China under the support and assistance of IBI, has shared their experience on investment and market exploitation with all attendees by Mr. Song Xiaohai, vice president of the group.
Following the reception, Chairman Tu hosted an appreciation dinner for all the guests. New friends and old buddies from China and other counties were sitting together, looking back the past year and anticipating the coming one.
